Paintings & Pictures influencing Vastu of your House

Paintings & Pictures influencing Vastu of your house

Much of what we know today about ancient culture has been learned from ancient artwork. Philosophy and symbolism play a huge role in every culture. Every object in the house has its own energy has a strong influence on the people staying there. Paintings connect you to your personal life and culture.

Decorating a home with paintings and pictures is one of the best ways to bring life-supporting energies influencing finance, education, relationship, health, children as well as reputation.

Artwork adds an extra spark of elegance to your house & provides you the vibrant energy that you need to have a great day. Although painting preferences may vary from home to home, there are still some basic rules to keep in mind while choosing a painting.

Here's something fascinating: Professor Semir Zeki, a renowned neurobiologist at the University College of London, reveals that "When we gaze upon beauty, our brain's pleasure and reward centers light up with activity. Dopamine—that magical 'feel-good' neurotransmitter—floods through these areas. Essentially, these centers awaken with the same intensity we experience during moments of deep love and passionate desire."

Your subconscious is greatly influenced by your environment, which puts you in the mood to dream, relax and strengthen your imagination.

Let us share time-honored wisdom from Vastu Shastra (and even Feng Shui)—simple yet profound practices that will nurture harmony, peace, and positive energy throughout your beloved home.

Paintings in Living Room

How do you shape a living room that feels warm yet looks like a gallery? Many of us overlook how deeply the art in our home shapes the mood.

The pieces you choose greet every guest at the door and quietly honor your own story—your colors, memories, and dreams—through thoughtful paintings and soulful objects.

Wall art becomes the heart that breathes kindness and welcome into the room.

Recommended paintings for living room:-

Painting of deep path, Flowing river, rising sun, running horses, artificial window

Imagine a painting where water flows—river, waterfall, or a graceful fish—quietly guiding fresh, positive energy into your work and career. The movement reminds your space (and your heart) to keep moving forward.

Many Vastu & Feng Shui experts cherish the golden fish—whether a painting or sculpture—as a timeless symbol of prosperity. Its gentle glow invites growth, opens doors, and nurtures both career progress and money luck.

If you’re dreaming of a powerful career path, choose an image of an endless road. That open horizon whispers possibility—more chances, better ideas, and new beginnings waiting just ahead.

The gentle morning sun, with its healing light, deeply nourishes your well-being. It’s our most natural source of vitamin D. In spaces that miss the dawn, a rising-sun painting can invite that life-giving energy. Avoid images of the sun with a mountain—the mountain isn’t recommended in the solar zone, according to Vastu Shastra.

Paintings for bedroom

A bedroom is where you slip away, safe from the world’s noise and weight. It’s your sanctuary, a quiet cocoon, and each room carries a spirit of its own—threads of color and memory that gently become part of you.

Want a retreat that melts stress the moment you enter? Start with soothing colours and intentional wall art. Choose harmony-and-love themes to calm the heart. Place a pair of Warli love paintings in the bedroom; their tender rhythm adds a soft, romantic glow to the space. They whisper togetherness and invite rest.

Green bamboo artwork is a beautiful choice, symbolizing resilience, renewal, and quiet strength. Evergreen through all seasons, it gently blesses your home with steady, year-round vitality and health. For the best results, place it with accurate magnetic-compass alignment. This imagery is especially supportive when the bedroom lies in the southeast zone.

Fine art America offers a wide choice of Vastu paintings for people staying in the USA.

The deer embodies quiet endurance, tender grace, and a life that flows long—an ageless symbol of longevity. Place its artwork in the health sector of your bedroom to gently invite strength, balance, and lasting well-being.

Pine trees interact with human energy in a cleansing manner. Placing this in your health sector helps in removing negative energies from your surroundings and auric field. You can realign your home to get rid of negativity, by using positively recommended paintings.

Mountain painting in the southwest zone enhances the earth element. This is a good painting in the bedroom. It indicates strength, support, and stability.

There are several ways to improve the relationship energy in your bedroom. Painting of hearts, birds, flowers, etc. in a pair, photos of romantic holidays, happy couple photographs are highly recommended in the bedroom of a couple in a relationship zone.  Love, romance & harmony, you need more in life, then use beautiful loving painting recommended by experts.

Paintings in Kids' room

Kids are always developing and it's important to keep this in mind while designing their rooms.  Art helps in improving creativity through its many forms like painting or sculpture when displayed in kids' rooms. It encourages fine motor skills development in children as well as nerve development and problem-solving abilities.

Artwork which displays teamwork,  speed, and creativity is best suitable in children's rooms.

Artwork for kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of any home, and it's easy to see why. It provides a space for gathering with friends and family over delicious food. When choosing artwork for your walls in this important room in your house always consider what you love about food - whether that be eating or creating something new.

Fire, together with Water, Earth, Wind, and space is one of the five known basic Elements, which represent the substance of the world. According to Vastu Shastra, premises having missing fire activities at the fire element zone suffers from poor health and slow money turnover. Painting beautiful candles or lamp symbolically serves you as an alternate source to the fire element.

Business paintings

A fascinating new study examined how different types of workplace settings can affect employees' well-being during the workday--the result? A negative impact if there is no visual stimulus around them!

Art in the workplace can help to improve work productivity. A study of 500 employers found that companies with more artwork had higher revenues, lower absentee rates, and better company culture than those without any art on their walls. The presence of paintings or sculptures also made employees feel happier about themselves as well as being able to enjoy leisure time outside the office setting when they were not working which increased morale even further amongst them all too.

People looking for overseas or export business can use pictures of foreign currencies or the image of a foreign destination to improve travel luck. You can further enhance the energy of the painting by putting small copper pyramid chips (energy activator) behind the painting.

Recommended paintings for offices:-

Painting of overseas currency, endless paths, flowing rivers, tall buildings, etc.

 Precautions & suggestions

  • Paintings in the children's room, guest room, youngsters, etc should be placed with the advice of a Vastu expert. The wrong location of the painting can be harmful and invite unwanted problems.
  • The water element in the earth zone are harmful, fire pictures in the water zone (northern) is dangerous, and Dominating earth element painting in the water zone may put your all work on stay.
  • Select a picture that inspires you. The artwork should invoke instant vibrant but comfortable energy once you look at the picture. Pictures can be used to shift, improve, correct & balance the energy in your personal & business environment.

During our Vastu consultation, we have seen many houses having paintings that do not evoke any positive feelings. We have recommended various paintings to our clients in India as well as abroad for their various issues related to relationships, career, health, travel, creativity & money.  They have experienced positive changes in their surrounding energy with recommended paintings.

FAQ on paintings

Q1: Are Vastu paintings necessary or just optional décor?
Vastu paintings are not mandatory, but they are a high-impact, low-effort remedy. If you're renting or can't renovate, paintings let you align room energy without breaking walls. In our  34-year experience, clients who pair structural Vastu with intentional art report faster, more noticeable shifts in ambience and behavior.

Q2: Which painting brings prosperity to the home?
Rising sun, blooming lotus, flowing rivers, and golden fields symbolize growth and abundance. Place them in the entrance, north wall, or northeast corner. Colors: yellow, gold, light green, orange. Avoid sinking ships, wilted flowers, or barren landscapes—they send the opposite signal.

Q3: Where should I avoid water and mountain motifs?
Water (rivers, oceans, waterfalls): Avoid in the south, southeast (fire zones), and directly behind your bed (creates restless energy). Best in north, east, northeast.
Mountains: Avoid in children's rooms (too heavy) and in front of your desk (blocks forward movement). Mountains are grounding—place them behind you (southwest, west) for support.

Q4: Can I keep religious art along with Vastu paintings?
Yes, absolutely. Place religious art in the pooja room, northeast, or east walls. Treat them with respect—avoid mixing sacred images with random décor on the same wall. If your living room has a Ganesha painting, let it be the hero—don't crowd it with unrelated themes.

Q5: Will Vastu paintings fix all my problems?
No. Vastu is a supportive environmental practice, not a magic cure. Paintings create daily visual cues that influence mood and behavior, but outcomes depend on many factors—relationships, health, career, effort, timing. Think of Vastu paintings as part of a holistic lifestyle, like eating well or exercising. They help, but they're not the only thing.

Q6: Is there a difference between apartment and villa Vastu painting rules?
Core principles stay the same—directions, elements, themes. Villas offer more flexibility (outdoor walls, multiple entry points). Apartments need to work within fixed layouts, so focus on optimizing what you control: living room, bedroom, entrance wall, study corner. Small spaces benefit more from one impactful painting than multiple small ones.

Q7: Can I use digital art or printed posters, or must it be original?
High-quality prints work fine—the visual impact and theme matter more than the price tag. However, original art or limited-edition prints often carry more intentional energy because an artist poured focus into them. If budget allows, commission custom Vastu art from local painters—it personalizes your space and supports artisans.

Effective use of Mirrors in Vastu Shastra

You should be very careful about the choice of mirrors and their placements. Mirrors have a powerful effect on your well-being.

How are you using mirrors?

 What might be harmful?

What is the ideal use of mirrors?

Mirrors are incredibly valuable in Vastu and  even in Feng Shui, as they can be utilized in a variety of ways to meet a variety of needs. However, it's important to note that not all mirrors are equally effective, and using one of the wrong shapes or directions could potentially do more harm than good. In Vastu Shastra they are also known as Asprin.

Mirror and Bedroom

Having a mirror facing the bed is commonly believed to have negative effects on one's energy levels and sleep quality. The reflection of oneself in the mirror can be distracting and may disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the bedroom. According to Vastu, it is advised to place mirrors strategically to enhance positive energy flow, rather than directly facing the bed. By rearranging the mirror to a different location in the room, you can create a more harmonious environment conducive to restful sleep.

The mirror may look good around your bed, but it can bring sick energy into the bedroom if placed incorrectly. Make sure that it does not reflect your bed while sleeping.

A mirror has the ability to reflect and amplify various forms of energy, which can disturb the calmness required in the bedroom for a restful sleep. This can lead to insufficient sleep at night and difficulty waking up in the morning.

Have you ever experienced waking up in the morning with discomfort in your knees or chest? Take a moment to reflect on whether the edges of the mirror in your room intersect with your body in any way. It is likely that you will discover the source of your pain through this observation.

Mirror and Dining room

It is a good idea to place a mirror reflecting a dining table. It is believed that the doubling of food on the dining table symbolizes the abundance of wealth. Do check with a Vastu expert for directions and shape before fixing mirrors.

Mirror near entrance

It is not advisable to have a mirror that reflects the entrance of the exterior. This could result in energy that enters the space being propelled outward. Consequently, one may experience a lack of beneficial opportunities entering their life.

Mirrors can be employed to redirect something unfavorable. By positioning the mirror to face the source of the negative energy within your surroundings, it will bounce back the energy and prevent it from having a detrimental effect on you. Thus, if you have an object or shape that causes disharmony, you can balance it out by placing the mirror in the right direction.

A narrow passage or hallway constricts the energy of that space. This can have a constricting effect on your own energy affecting your health. The lungs especially might be affected, as the constricted passageway in your home is analogous to the constricted airways in your body. Widen a narrow entry or hall with mirrors on one or both sides.

Other uses

Mirrors can be used to create an illusion of space. When there is a constriction in a particular area of a room, a mirror can be used to add depth to the wall that is causing the issue.

If you have a low ceiling, a mirror can be used to create a visual representation of the crushing sensation. To achieve this, the mirror should be set so that it faces the ceiling, making the reflection visible.

Amazing things happen when you use a mirror that effectively pulls in the outdoors and warmth from the sun. If your windows open to a beautiful outdoor view or exquisite garden, bring those views inside by placing a mirror on the wall opposite the windows. The mirror will reflect the outdoor views bringing them inside and making the landscape an integral part of the premises.

Mirror corrections

According to Vastu, mirrors should be avoided on the southern and western walls. Special mirror pyramids are available to be placed in the four corners of the mirror in order to correct the energy.

House pollution -Get protection from Negative Energy-Negative people- Negative surrounding

House pollution- Negative Energy

You have shifted into a new home, and within a few days you do not feel restful in your place, you don’t sleep well, you find disturbing family life. One definite reason could be house pollution due to the existence of negative energy.

Even in the most positive of the house, negative energy can gather. There are so many ways in which negative energy gathers or is generated in your place. A visit to negative sites, interacting with others can pick up garbage in your energy field and bring it home. Whatever the reasons, negative energy gathers over time and needs to be cleansed.

The Effects of Negative Energy

It brings frequent illness
It generates stress and anger
It brings sadness and depression
It can be the cause of violence and tragic events
Frequent obstacles in career and business
Negative Thoughts of others
Negative people can and do influence positive people. Negative person's aura can drain the positive person's aura & Energy. The positive person will feel it when it happens - they may feel more exhausted, tired or weaker, their mood may lose some sparkle, or they may get a feeling of uneasiness or anxiety.

An unbalanced person that constantly thinks negative thoughts about you or wishes you ill can cause you problems. This is especially a problem with jealous people.

You will find such people in form of few relatives, friends, neighbors or competitors. You will notice that every time you got around them, you would feel sick or have bad luck (evil eye effect). These people by their words always had something negative to say about you. They would constantly criticize you or tell you why you could not do a particular thing you had planned to do. Discontinuing contact with these people will solve your problems. Of course, you have to spend some time with unpleasant people. They could even be people you have a personal relationship and you love. However, you have no obligation to take part in their negative thinking, and you can reduce your exposure.
If this isn’t an option, try carrying a piece of black tourmaline to absorb the negativity whenever you must be around these people or speak to them. Be sure to clean it periodically to remove any negativity it may have absorbed. Also remember that your negative thoughts towards others will be returned to you, same as anything else you do.

Negative people can and do influence positive people. Psychics can actually see this in the interaction of auras where the negative person's aura seems to drain the positive person's aura of its energy and light. The positive person will feel it when it happens - they may feel more exhausted, tired or weaker, their mood may lose some sparkle, or they may get a feeling of uneasiness or anxiety.
Negative Energy From Our own thoughts

Everything vibrates. Everything! Scientists have discovered that at a molecular level, everything is vibrating energy.

Thoughts, attitude, and feelings are also a form of energy. Thoughts & attitude creates feelings, and the feelings create a correlating vibration. Like attracts like. So our thoughts & attitude with corresponding feelings attract to us (whether we are aware of it or not) other thoughts, people, and situations that are in harmony with our vibration. At times, don't we all produce our own share of negative energy? It comes from primarily one place - our thoughts.

Negative vibrations (negative thoughts and feelings) = negative situations in our lives.
Positive vibrations (positive thoughts and feelings) = positive situations in our lives

We can consciously choose the images we hold in our minds. The image we choose stimulates thoughts and feelings and our vibration response, creating the environment to attract that "image" to us. So to attract more of what we want in life, we focus our thoughts and feelings on what we want to create, imagining what we want to create is already in our lives. This results in a correlating vibration and attracts that which is in harmony.

Like attracts like. We are like magnets. We call into our lives that upon which we focus.

Blocking the negative energy with Vastu Shastra

One of the most important factors in your success is your environment, the people you surround yourself with. House with a positive aura is better able to withstand negative influences. Vastu compliant home is said to be in good health and work as a strong protective barrier. Such houses are less susceptible to drains on their energy and vitality. If you want to have a stronger, more positive aura for home as well as for yourself, make your house vibrating with vastu energy.

Purifying a space is an easiest and effective way to clear the space from any negative energy thus making the space more welcoming. You can use black tourmaline rock, singing bowl or Tibetan OM bell for the energy corrections. In countries like India, Egypt, China, Turkey, Australia, and North America people wear protective amulets for evil eye protection.

Space clearing basically removes the negative energy within one’s surrounding. Since everything in our life—from our health to our prosperity to our relationships —is highly affected by this vital flow of energy, it is of utmost importance that we keep this energy field around us clean and clear. Unwanted energy in our homes and businesses as a kind of toxic waste that just floats around creating negative effects on the quality of life.
