Steps To Make a Vastu Friendly Pooja Room

Steps To Make a Vastu Friendly Prayer Room

The most sacred and auspicious area of the house is a prayer or pooja room. The place where idols of Gods are placed, religious texts are stored, and where all the Godly belongings are located. One may ask, why separate room for Gods when they reside spiritually everywhere? The simplest and the most immediate answer to this question is, by creating a pooja room, we are creating a space for positivity, an aura that will revitalize the environment, mind, body, and soul.

This place brings a soul near to enlightenment and allows you to make peace with the world. A pooja room

will enable you to meditate, pray to God, thus creating a holy atmosphere. Little do people know about Vastu Shastra for
pooja room, they think only the placement of idols of Gods is important. But one should understand that a wrong placement or incorrect direction can bring bad luck to the house residents.

 So how do you create a place completely filled with positive vibrations and which will only work for the progress, prosperity, and peace of the people living inside? For detailed information, you can always contact an expert. Some of the rules regarding the Do’s and Don’ts are listed here. Keep reading further.

 The first and the most important step for making a Vastu compliant pooja room is to locate the pooja room in the tranquility zone. The best direction as per Vastu Shastra for designing a pooja room is the Northeast corner of the house. But if you have space constraints for that direction, you can also design a pooja room in the East or West direction of the house.

Few other points to be considered are:

       Construct a pooja room on the ground floor;

       For factories and big plots can have a pooja room near the northwest zone of the plot.

       The auspicious direction for keeping the idols are East and/or West direction of the pooja room;

       The idols should be placed a few inches away from the walls of the pooja room;

       The idols should be in perfect condition when placed in the pooja room. A damaged image or idol should be avoided in the pooja room;

       If the pooja place has doors and windows, they should be in the north or east walls;

       If you are planning to have a marble carved prayer room, white and yellow colored marble work is considered auspicious;

       Light colors like white, light yellow or light blue color is best suitable for a pooja room;

       While making the roof, create a pyramid-shaped roof for the pooja room;

       While placing an Agnikund in the pooja room, have it in the South-east corner of the house;

       Make sure that you face east while praying.

       Place auspicious Shree yantra duly blessed in the temple for peace and prosperity in the house.

Shree Yantra

 Few other points that should be avoided are:

       Do not have the pooja room in the south direction;

       Avoid the pooja room in the storeroom of the house;

       It would be best if you do not make a pooja room in any of the bedrooms of the house;

    Avoid having the pooja room in the basement area, you can always make one on the ground floor and avoid going beyond the ground floor;

       It is not auspicious to have a pooja room under the staircase. This is a major vastu defect.

       Make sure that the idols you keep are not facing the south;

       Do not bring idols from the old temple.

    Do not place the broken idol inside the pooja room of the house;

       Ensure that the pooja room doesn’t share the walls with the bathrooms;

       Images showing war, or anger should not be placed inside the prayer area.

       Dustbin near the pooja room reduces the positivity;

       Do not place any extra storage  items in the sacred place;

       Avoid sleeping in the pooja room.

 If you believe and have faith in the Vastu Shastra, follow the points as mentioned above, Happiness and Prosperity are bound to come at your doorsteps.

Representative sculptures have multiple implications

Analyzing and understanding the significance of idols and symbolic items used in home décor from a vaastu perspective
(Our this article was published in DNA news paper on 11 June 2016
Essential Elements
five elements of vastu

Idols are like a symbol, something visible representing something invisible. They are not just decorative pieces made by sculptors but are guiding channels through which our heart is attracted towards the higher self.
Kubera is the god of wealth and the lord of Uttaradisha (north direction). He is also known as Dhanapati, the lord of riches. He is one of the guardians of the directions, representing the north according to Vaastu Shastra.

Annapurna is the Goddess of Nourishment, who is full, complete, and perfect with food and grains. According to Vaastu Shastra, a small brass idol of Annapurna placed in the rice jar brings abundance to prosperity in the family.
The elephant is a sacred animal for many oriental cultures and carries a great amount of symbolism. An elephant is a symbol of strength, power, virility, longevity, fidelity, dignity, intelligence and wisdom. Place a pair of elephants with their trunks up the front door of homes or offices to bring good fortune and strength to the family.
When placed in the bedroom, the elephant brings harmony and promotes love and fidelity among couples. The elephant also symbolizes fertility because Buddha is said to be conceived when he entered his mother's womb as a white elephant. Childless couples or those wishing to have more children should place elephant images in their bedroom to increase fertility.
Sun
vastu brass sun
The solar radiation that reaches earth acts as the main source of vitamin D for the sustenance of life on this planet. Without it, life on the earth would not flourish. In modern architecture, every house does not have access to morning sun rays. According to research done by Vaastu experts, being deprived of morning sun rays could result in poor health conditions.
Such Vaastu defects can be corrected by fixing a painting or symbol of the sun on the east wall of the house or business locations.

The Medicine Buddha is depicted sitting on a lotus throne (the lotus flower is the symbol of purity of mind and of the earth) in the posture of vajrasana (also known as the diamond position, which was assumed by Buddha Shakyamuni on the last day before his enlightenment). With his left hand, he forms the gesture of absolute balance.
The gesture signifies the state in which objective consciousness is removed. The gesture was assumed by the Buddha as he sat under a fig tree where he submerged himself in meditation and it helped him reach a state of deep reflection. The left-hand forms the gesture of comfort and fearlessness, which signifies blessing and protection.
Meditating with a medicine Buddha creates great therapeutic energy, which is useful for healing oneself and others.
As the king of the animal world, the lion stands for battle and power. In western culture, the lion stands for fire, the sun, and gold. When kings and people of authority wanted to display their wealth, power, and prestige to the outside world, they would place sculptures of lions at the entrances to their houses or in the palace garden. The Lions informed everybody entering that this was the residence of an important person who demanded respect.
In many ancient cultures, the lion is a symbol of protection for the entrance to a building. The lion pair always stands outside the front door to protect against bad luck entering the house. At many places, entrance gates that are guarded by lions are also called lion gates.
Shankha or conch shell with images of Lord Ganesha is believed to ward off all negativities and bring harmony and auspiciousness to the home. The presence of Lord Ganesha paves the way for Riddhi and Siddhi.

Vastu Shastra for South Facing House, plot, property, Home - True Vastu Analysis

The negative concerns associated with south facing houses are due to an oft-repeated myth

South facing property or properties are available at affordable prices – why?  Because very few people prefer renting or buying a south facing plot,  home or offices. This trend is just a myth and there is no truth. In fact, south facing property can bring a huge amount of success if certain vastu shastra rules are followed very carefully.

A true vastu analysis involves understanding the location of the main door, as all directions i.e. north, south, east and west are equally auspicious.  We have seen not a few, but a large number of homes having south door were fortunate in creating a prosperous and peaceful life. Hence locating a door at an auspicious block of the south zone can be instrumental to claim as a successful house.

Some of the points below are the specific vastu rules to be followed in south facing premises:-

1.    The success of any south property depends on where the main door is located.  Even door at north, east or west can be negative if located at an inauspicious block of vastu grid. A good location of the main door nourishes the house.  Divide south zone in the nine equal parts. The fourth block from the east is a most auspicious zone for the main door.
2.    Provide true location for a kitchen in the house i..e southeast corner, a fire zone.  A warm agneya corner is a sign of financial success.

3.    Water bodies (underground tank, fish tank, water bowl ), prayer zone, study and library,  more windows and open space in the north-east zone assures a peaceful and healthy environment inside the house.

4.    Bedrooms for kids, toilet and bath in the north-west should ideally be placed in the north-west zone for harmony in the house

5.    South-west zone is a  strong location for the owner of the house. Master bed room in this direction gives him more strength and command over the family as well as in the business decisions.

Precautions for south facing properties:-

1.    The toilet in the north-east or south-west zone is a serious vaastu defect affecting health and peace in the family.

2.    Kitchen in the south-west could impact on female health badly

3.    Master bedroom at north-east could bring more struggle for the owner of the house

4.    A toilet, kitchen or pillar in the center of the house should be avoided at any cost.

5.    Missing windows at north & east could reduce the vastu strength of such premises

6.    Underground water tank at southeast or southwest could prove harmful for the entire family

Aligning a south facing house internally with vastu element & it could prove equally good like those properties facing other three directions.

What's in a name? - Auspicious choices bring good luck to residents

What's in a name? - Auspicious choices bring good luck to residents
Naming homes according to vastu shastra is becoming very popular with the increase in home ownership. It gives an impression of welcoming the visitor. When it is difficult to find your home, a visitor may overshoot the premises. According to vaastu, it can indicate missed opportunities. So draw attention to your home with a beautiful house name, along with a house sign at the entrance to your property in a welcoming way.

People in western countries name their homes based on certain themes like birds, animals, locations, and trees. For instance, orchid home, cucu villa, hill view, sea castle etc. In India, people tend to name their house after the holy river, holy places, parents, god, and goddess. An auspicious and lucky name brings good luck and success to the occupants. People in such a home feel more positive and are able to attract abundance in their life.
Consider the following points before naming your home:
1. Avoid duplicating a name that already exists in your area or surroundings.
2. Use a name which has some personal significance.
3. Select a unique and attractive one.
4. Name written on the door plate should be easily readable.
5. The name should ideally have a positive meaning to attract positiveness in your home
6. Colors used in the nameplate should be selected based on the directions. e.g. east facing homes should have nameplate made in brown or green colors.
7. Like colors, the material used in making a nameplate is equally important. Metallic nameplates are very auspicious for the north facing homes.
8. Those who have an independent home or villa can display their house name near the gate and people living in the apartment may create space near the door.
Your home is one of your biggest assets as well as your shelter. A good starting point in naming your house is to ensure you’re not duplicating a name that already exists in your local area or post-code area as this could cause problems. Walk the streets, see what names are already in use and if there are any constants or common themes to the house names in your area.
Ideally, you want a name to be proud of and that has some local or personal significance. A new house name should be unique and of relevance to you or the area. Above all, any new name given should be suitable and well-chosen.
