Water Element-Vastu
The water element is one of the strongest elements of Vastu Shastra. Water is what gives life to our planet. Without it, we would not exist. Water is the essence of life. Water has always been synonymous with authority & power. During ancient times, water has been used as an elemental solution by the kings by placing their palaces near bodies of water. If you look at the world’s most capital cities today, they are either located near the water or have large rivers or lakes nearby. The majority of ocean-side and lake-side properties are usually more expensive.
Do not lock your luck
Waterbody near the house or business premises is a good placement because it keeps the energy flowing and prevents it from being "locked". Its real essence speaks of movement and the flow of life. It invites everyone to move & bend and not to stay rigid or to struggle. Moving and flowing water can encourage those who come into contact with it to accept continual change and not to struggle unnecessarily in life.
If properly applied, the water element can make a world of difference. Water installed in the wrong direction might have the reverse effect on you and the inhabitants of your premises.
Benefits of water element as per Vastu:-

WATER ELEMENT –VASTU TIPS
1. The body of water should not be too huge compared to the actual premises or it can energetically dominate the site and weaken the occupant's growth.
2. Shape and placement of the body of water are very important. The best place according to Vastu Shastra is in the northeast zone. It should not be on the edge of the northeast axis. Waterfalls and fountains create new energy flow in any environment. A well-placed fountain can have a beneficial impact on any space.
3. Fish aquariums are another powerful water energizer. Fish tanks are a combination of water and living energy that stimulates the flow of new energy flow. Aquariums with fish are notorious for bringing good luck, fortune, and a stream of wealth to the occupants. You will also find them in many corporate houses, hotels & restaurants.
Aquariums are a combination of beauty and auspiciousness. They present an alluring mix that is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also conjures up thoughts of the good luck it brings to those who have one in their home or office space.
4. Avoid placing the fountain in the southeast area of the house or office, which is a location of the fire element, and because water puts out the fire it can have a dampening effect on your finances.
5. A beautiful Water body Painting symbolizes good fortune. Flowing water can ease tensions and allow the vibrations of the life force to enter our space, bringing flow of money with it. The waterfall painting will help channelize positive energy towards business and career.
6. Placing a water fountain at the doorway to your home can help deflect any negative energy that might be entering. Do not place two water fountains near the entrance. The beautiful sound of flowing water is one that has been shown time and again as therapeutic, soothing, calming; in other words: perfect for an office or home setting. The fountains are the best way to incorporate this healing element into your space without taking up large space at all. Circulating or moving water is more powerful than stagnant water.
7. Avoid fountains or fish tank in the kitchen. this may create a sick energy in to the kitchen.
8. Vastu Mangal Kalasha or water bird bath are the alternative ways if you are not able to place any of the above water objects. Water in the pot should be changed daily. These also also effective vastu remedies for northeast corner defects in the house.

My husband and I are planning to buy a new home, and there is a water element in the south (pond). We are not sure how far it will be, but its probably atleast 1 to 1.5 times away from the property. We did some basic Vastu application, as far as the Pooja Room, Kitchen, Master Bedroom, Bathroom goes. As for the pond in the back, we both love water, and were thinking is there any remedy we can apply to nulify the effects of the pond being to the South? The door in the back does not directly open to the South, but from the side, towards east. What elements can we place in the house and where, to nulify the effects of the pond being in the South - how do we attain balance within the house? Thank you.

FOr vastu analysis accurate compass reading is must and the placements inside the house should be made accordingly. Water Pond at south is a major vastu defect. Balancing of elements is required to nullify the pond defect. Counter remedies will not work in this case. GO for professional help.

Location of the bathroom according to vastu should be considered by analysing the entire layout and not a individual room. When you say south east again it has a 3 zones i.e. south east, south east at south and south east at east. Ideally bathroom & toilet should be placed at at west of north west. Other locations needs a vastu correction.

Put alternate water element at north east zone of kitchen. Stick 3 wooden pyramids near the sink wall. This will reduce the impact of water element in the south east zone. Enhance your north zone of the house by placing a idol of lord kubera along with a crystal angel.

I am looking to buy a house. The main entrance faces south east, though not complete east, more of east and little south(Don't have exact compass degrees. Location of door should be in positive in south east zone. A compass degree is must to check if it is a positive or negative entrance. North west zone with pond is not a good location as per vastu

I have seen your blog and it is very interesting and helpful. I am planning to buy a land in US and construct a house in that plot. Unfortunately it being a community we will have to follow builders plan and they wont let us change directions of the rooms. Out of 3 or 4 plan we found this plan little better . However looks like master bedroom and master bath are not in good directions. But in master bed room we are have owners retire t which is SW so we are planning to place the bed there.

1. the home by iteself is facing East (-5 deg towards south).

my parents are constructing our new home, we are getting a permanent waterfall in which water will be recirculated through a motor with a small pond once it is filled and where it will flow into,my house is facing north and we are getting the waterfall constructed at the back yard which is the south of the house , and would be facing our house, i have happned to read various forums where in it has been strictly emphasised against such construction. As the waterfall is nearing completion , i am in a dillema as to whether stop the construction, or let it get build and never or seldomly use it. Yes avoid waterfall at south zone. You can make a rock decoration at south south west zone but water body should be avoided in ground and underground level at south.

We have taken 3 and half feet plingth higher than ground level but parking at south east is at ground level.. so north east part is higher than south east. what should be done for this? and We have gogot south west bedroom higher..but there is some open space at south west which we are going to use it for drying cloths etc which is at ground level..

The kitchen stove is on the east side.
Now, the house has a swimming pool which is on the south east position of the house. It also has a water feature wall and the water flows from the wall down to the pool..
Now from your website I gathered that the swimming pool is not in the right position.. I was just wanting to know if there is any remedy to balance the energy because of the pool's wrong position? Or would you advice us not to purchase this property and wait for the right one..

I am thinking of moving from a south facing front door apartment to a north facing front door apartment. In the current apartment the kitchen is in the south west quadrant and the stove also south west. The pond is in the north west of the apartment. The master bedroom is in the south east quadrant and our head is in the east while we sleep. Front door is south east facing.

Kindly note that door at south is not always bad. Location of door should fall in the auspicious zone at south. Please read our article on south facing home in this blog. A new house with south west kitchen will invite more problems to you especially health of the female members. Also pond with south water flow is a defect but can be corrected with vastu remedies. Ideally water body should be in north east zone of your entire house and not in a corner of living area.
We are interested to buy a plot which has North East facing entrance. It has man made water retention area (pond) in back yard so south west area. i have sent you an email with photo of plot location. The plot is 0.26 acre (11,244 sq feet) rectangular. House will be built at the front of the lot covering around 30% of the plot. Rest will be backyard before the pond starts. There will be railing fence separating house from pond.
The pond is lower elevation than house which is at a height (around 10 feet higher elevation than pond). Since entrance door is facing North East would this be ok? Could you please guide us?

Also please note if it makes any difference - we live in northern most USA where this pond is frozen frm Dec to Apr. Part of it is used as ice hockey field and skating in winters. In summer there are no waves and not flowing water since it is man made excess water / storm water retention pond. Thanks Deepa
Even if your door is located in north east zone, any depression at south west is a major vastu fault. It may impact on your growth and family health

We have East facing Plot and North facing side home (Main door is North side). Rain water Harvesting system : Rain collects on Roof top, flows to south and filter in south then water is stored in sump which is in Southeast and then a finally flows to deep recharge well (2'width) in North east.

We have found the location of Well in the North East Corner. After that we build one house in the property. The Well is not placed in the North east locaion of the House, It Comes to the North, North west part of the house.

1. We have septic tank and waste water tank installed in South direction. (This is if I measure from middle of the house. If I measure from middle of the land it is South West direction, I'm not sure what method is correct)

We actually bought a house and in which we have a man made storm water pond to the north east corner of house. The site where the house is built is uneven and the north east corner is extended. And the its slope towards north east.
The pond is located in the extended corner of north east and its extended till the south east.

Extention of north east, slope towards the north east & pond location at north east makes your site very strong as per vastu. We suggest you to reduce the pond from south east. Circulate the water frequently so water do not become stagnant.

You can use cut off method by fixing a copper vastu strips between pond and you house. This is a virtual correction
Fill up the west side and level the east zone. Lake at the distance of double the size of your plot will not impact on your house. Otherwise vastu correction is necessary

Removing a water fall is the best solution. As a alternate, place yellow jasper pebbles around the waterfall to reduce the negative impact.

You need to do space purification, before you start any work. Also level of plot is also important. Water flow from north to south is a vastu defect. For opinion about the plot, do consult our team with map at Vastu opinion link
North east zone is a strong location for prayer room. Place god facing west , whereas you should face east while praying. North-south is not a true direction for worship in home temple. Prayer room facing a kitchen is not a problem.

You can not make even over ground swimming pool in the south west. You need to raise the area based on the house size and it can only be on elevated location with certain height.

Sir, we moved to a rental house that helped us accumulate wealth and gave us kids and helped us build our assets from negative to positive. It gave us the energy and miracles happened. We bought a home we didn't move in everything was fine. After the construction of the house is over we moved in to this house. This new house is north east facing but has a storm water drain below in South West direction. Drain is dry all the the time with dry leaves except rainy days. I have a north east facing house. In the backyard in the west corner of the house, there is a wall waterfall (4 feet long) facing the house (facing east). The water collects in a small area under the wall (8 feet long by 2 feet wide) which is 1 feet below the ground. The water level is 2 feet above the ground and the waterfall is 5 feet above the ground. I am planning to introduce gold fish in the water.
